Caleb Ziolkowski, from Crazy Horse Memorial along with Kay Weninger gave a most interesting program on the mountain and the carving. Everything from some history, to how the blasting went, and how they do finishing work. Caleb has extensive education, and has now been working with the family at Crazy Horse. He gave us information on how the progress has averaged over the years, and some of the advances including machines (Frankensaw) they have devised to help facilitate the carving. There are thoughts that some of the advancements including large cranes will help advance the carving process. The progress is constantly monitored and scheduled on computers.
Thanks Caleb for an outstanding presentation. We look forward to hearing from Kay in the future.
