Custer Rotary Club

In the Beautiful Black Hills of South Dakota

Custer Rotary Club was pleased to have Marguerite Cullum, Librarian/Historian and Laurie Becvar, COO/Pres of Crazy Horse Memorial to inform, and update us on what's happening at the Crazy Horse Memorial.
Marguerite, explained that the private library at Crazy Horse Memorial (which is not open to the public) is used as a research library on native American culture and history.  Students at the Indian University of North America have access to the library.  It is also being updated to an automated system.
Laurie shared her many responsibilities at Crazy Horse Memorial. She explained that the Foundation supports 32 students during the summer months to enable Native Americans to earn up to 12 credits, and assists in getting into and staying in college to completion.
She stated that 71% of those who have attended go on to earn a degree.
Currently, from 19 Dec to 4 Jan, Crazy Horse Memorial will have extended hours for their museum (which has over 11,000 artifacts, art, and rich with culture and history) and restaurant, along with an exciting light show.
Thanks Marguerite and Laurie for some great information.
